Fauna
Photographing animals, whether domestic or wild, helps to remind us that we are also part of the community of all living creatures.
Portrait of Addie - I captured this image of a close friend's beloved horse in her stable in Woodside.
Reflections - these three Mallard ducks were floating serenely in a marsh pond, with the reeds reflecting in the almost still water, creating an almost surreal scene.
Monarch Caterpillar - this beauty was gorging on milkweed leaves, preparing for metamorphosis into its butterfly form.
Flight - as often happens, the seagulls were congregating en masse on the beach just south of Carmel.
Rhys - captured with a wide-angle lens, this amusing view accentuates his big ears and long body that is typical of Corgis.
Ladybugs - taken in Muir Woods just north of San Francisco, thousands of ladybugs were congregating and feeding.
Coming in for the Smooch - as any dog-parent will tell you, there's nothing cuter than a dog coming in to give you a big kiss.
Pelican Bath - at the Palo Alto Baylands this group of pelicans seems to be playing as they fed in a group.
Damselfly - one of the thousands of damsel and dragon flies seen in the late spring and early summer at Horseshoe Pond at Skyline Open Space.
Marsh Bird - this bird rested just long enough for me to capture it, then flitted off.
