Cityscapes
In many ways cityscapes mirror landscapes and seascapes - our flawed attempt to remake the world to suit our needs. In doing so we create fascinating shapes and sights.
Nautilus - this iconic public sculpture in Mountain View presents an infinite number of curves and edges. Captured here just at sunset after a rain.
New Year - lanterns hung for Chinese New Year in San Francisco caught my eye, along with the ever-present pigeons of the city.
Self portrait - something as simple as the shadows on an outdoor basketball court can be striking. I found the shadow of the pole, backboard, and basket created interesting forms on the pavement.
Stairway - at the De Young Museum of Art in Golden Gate Park. The groups of visitors reflected in and juxtaposed with the strong architectural elements caught my eye.
Perspective - this corridor just outside the Stanford University Chapel gave such as strong sense of perspective and symmetry, combined with the soft light from the early morning fog.
Exhibit Goers - De Young Museum. Intention camera moved was used to capture the sense of motion as visitors walk through a gallery admiring the paintings.
Railing - in a garage in Golden Gate Park, the bright wall and strong lines offered an interesting abstract.
Waiting - this older man as sitting with his suitcase at a busy intersection in Paris not far from the Opera House. I can't help wondering who or what he was waiting for.
View from the Opera - Paris architecture is endlessly fascinating, with its classic lines, slate rooftops, and long boulevards.
Stairway - another view of the main stairway of the De Young Museum of Art. Here devoid of people the pure lines can be appreciated.
Card Shark - a large group of men gather to play cards near China Town in San Francisco. One man seems to be the bookie as he collects and holds the cash while others play.
